When we have so much going on at once, and we’re already a busy people, it can be hard to lose weight. We’ve complied these meal hacks to save you a little time, but most importantly lose weight faster.
Who else is guilty of needing a quick meal and just grabbed the fastest food available, whether it’s from the deli or local fast food joint.
I can tell you right now that I’m guilty of this.
Sometimes we’re just too busy and overwhelmed with information to think about what we’re ordering or munching away on. It’s 10 times easier to order a pizza than to cook a full meal for yourself. But unfortunately, that doesn’t help us lose weight.
Using these meal hacks you can cut down on your calorie intake, stop binging on unhealthy foods, and shake a few extra pounds faster than you thought.
1. Smash The Fiber.
Fibre is just awesome. It is the indigestible parts of plant foods such as vegetables, grains, legumes and fruits. Fibre is a carbohydrate that helps to keep our digestive system healthy.
The wonderful thing about fibre is that it helps you feel full for longer. Feeling full for longer is going to stop you from over eating, and also contain your snack cravings.
During your next meal, eat the high fibre foods first to start filling your tummy up straight away. You will then be less likely to eat too much, or continue to snack after the meal.
Some high fibre sources include:
- Carrot (skin on).
- Kidney beans.
- Rolled oats.
- Sweet potato.
- Psyllium husk.
2. Swap Out The Carbs.
If you’re diet includes a tonne of pasta, breads, potatoes, and sugars, it’s time to find alternatives. When you grab a quick meal on the go from the store, the majority of those meals contain high amounts of simple carbohydrates.
Have you ever come across the salad roll that is 3 inches bread and 1 inch salad? These are the type of meals we need alternatives to.
The most common carbohydrate alternatives are:
- Pasta – swap with zoodles (zucchini noodles).
- Rice – swap with cauliflower rice.
- Mashed potato – swap with mashed cauliflower.
- Hamburger buns – swap with portobello mushrooms.
- Crackers – swap with cucumber slices.
It’s all about being as creative as you can, and trying out new things. Take carbonara for instance, you can use seasoned mashed cauliflower for the sauce and zoodles for the pasta, easy!

3. Skip The Dressing.
Nope, this doesn’t mean going naked to your date night, movie night or anything like that. Next time you order a salad ask for the dressing on the side or even without dressing at all.
Dressing doesn’t look bad, doesn’t taste bad, so why should you not eat it?
Well, the salad dressings that are served up in restaurants can be very high in calories and soon make your salad into a carb/fat loaded meal. They generally contain a lot of unhealthy fats and sugars.
Remember, the next time you’re ordering a salad say “I’ll have the salad without dressing please”. This meal hack is an easy way to help you lose weight faster, and getting closer to your goals.
4. Use A Salad Plate.
Salad plates are slightly smaller that your average main meal plate. When you’re serving up the next meal use a salad plate for your portions. This is an easy meal hack if you want to eat less at meal times.
Some research studies have found a connection between dieters using small plates and then eating less overall. It’s playing a type of trick on your mind to give the illusion that you’re eating more than your actually are.
If you’re eating too much and can’t figure out a way to control it, this meal hack could be the way you speed up the process and lose weight faster.
5. Bump Up The P
Eating a lot of unhealthy and processed foods can lead to wanting to eat more! If you’re getting more simple carbs and sugars than you are protein, then this could be the source of your hunger.
Make sure to eat protein with every meal you have. It doesn’t have to be a 500g rump steak or a whole chicken with every meal, just enough for you.
The throughout the day when you feel any cravings coming which are inevitable, eat a couple of hard boiled eggs, or some chicken.

Meal hack #6 on the list to help you lose weight faster. PREP MEALS. It’s so easy yet overlooked so often. There are thousands out there who are following a diet and are prepping almost every meal. It’s easy, convenient, and helps to keep them on track.
- Portion control.
- Saves money.
- Stick to diet.
- Eating the same meal 6-8 times in a row.
If you can stick out eating 6-8 healthy meals that are exactly the same give yourself a pat on the back. This meal hack is an awesome way to control your diet and push yourself to losing that weight faster.
