Maybelline has been in the makeup game for a while (since 1915). They’ve released multiple award-winning drug store products and are known for affordability and quality. But, nothing caused more of a stir than the Maybelline Fit Me collection, especially the Matte & Poreless foundation…
But is it worth all the hype?
I received the Matte and Poreless and decided to take it for a spin to see what all the fuss was about.
The collection includes:
- Fit Me Concealer.
- Pressed and Setting Powder.
- Fit Me Dewy and Smooth Foundation.
- Fit Me Matte and Poreless.
- Product: Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless
- Shade: 110 Porcelain
- Finish: Matte
The Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless design is very standard amongst most drug store foundations. It’s a slim, rectangle, clear jar that fits nicely in your hand, and is one fluid oz/30ml.
When I opened the bottle, I was looking for a pump or applicator, but there was nothing… It’s just an open bottleneck. This made it a little awkward when applying the product, compared to a pump/applicator.
It comes with a screw lid which is less prone to exploding or leaking, making it perfect for a traveler.
The design could do with a few minor improvements, but overall it didn’t disappoint.
When I first applied the Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation I noticed the formula is very runny. A little goes a long way with this foundation, so don’t get too carried away.
It had medium coverage and was very buildable. The drying time was very quick, so I had to work fast when blending it out. It left my skin looking matte and poreless, and I didn’t find it drying or harsh on my skin.
The formula of the Matte and Poreless Foundation is for people with normal to oily skin. I was a little worried at first as my skin is dry and sensitive, but I had no issues.
Once I applied my setting powder, I noticed that the foundation started to crease and crack. I ended up having to touch up a few times. After a big day of running around and sweating, it did eventually start to crack and separate again.
The Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless is also dermatologist and allergy tested. I had no reactions at all to the formula.
One of the main deciders for myself when looking for new beauty products is ethics. Unfortunately, Maybelline is a part of the large group of big brands that test on animals. They sell their products in China, where animal testing is mandatory for foreign cosmetics.
Maybelline’s parent company L’Oreal has come out saying “L’Oréal no longer tests any of its products or any of its ingredients on animals, anywhere in the world nor does L’Oréal delegate this task to others. An exception could only be made if regulatory authorities demanded it for safety or regulatory purposes.”
Let’s talk about shade range; there are 40 shades! There is a shade for every skin color and undertone, making the Fit Me range one of the most diverse drug store collection to date.
The Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless is a reasonable price for the amount and the quality of the product.
You can get your hands on it here on Amazon.
If you’re looking for an affordable drug store foundation with medium, matte coverage then I would recommend the Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless.
It isn’t the best foundation I’ve used, but the price to quality ratio is spot on!
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this product, leave it below in the comments!
