The hype built around this product is phenomenal, everywhere I look it has a 5-star review. The Swisse Manuka Honey Detoxifying face mask is said to purify and detoxify the skin, along with leaving the skin smooth and hydrated. I can’t go past a good face mask without giving it a go!
Over the weekend I may have splurged a little and got carried away with dessert food, as you do. Monday morning came and the breakouts started setting in, which is the perfect time to try out the mask.
Review | Swisse Manuka Honey Detoxifying Face Mask
This mask is super easy to apply. I used an old makeup brush to paint it on. It had a cooling effect when it touched the skin as if the heat was being drawn out.
The smell is very different from what you would think, it has the sweet honey scent mixed with other pleasant tones. The drying time is around 10 – 15 minutes depending on how thick you apply the mask, and you will see it go from dark to light grey as it sets.
Around 5 minutes after application, the mask started to get tight, really tight. If you’re not used to clay masks don’t let this worry you, it’s normal.
As it tightened I also felt a slight tingle on my skin which was nice and soothing. The directions suggest to wash with lukewarm water which I found was a little difficult because of the type of mask.
A hot towel made the process a lot easier, with less chance of getting anything in your eyes.
After washing the mask off, my face felt refreshed and smooth. It had a really nice tight feeling and firm look. I felt like my skin was younger.
The best part was the few pimples I had almost totally disappeared and the next day these pimples were virtually invisible unless pointed out.
Pimples/breakouts normally take 4-6 days to disappear on my skin, so this mask really excelled in shortening the time-frame. My pores… barely visible. My pimples… almost gone. My skin was cleaned out and revitalized.
There was one thing I didn’t like about this mask but… there is a fix. About 10 minutes after I had removed the mask, my skin started to feel a little dry and gave me slight discomfort.
I applied a small amount of moisturizer and all was well again.
The Swisse Manuka Honey Detoxifying Face Mask comes at a quite a good price for its quality, and the pros definitely outweigh the one con.
